Serving Grand Blanc Township

Michelle Ryder currently serves as a Grand Blanc Township Trustee, bringing a practical, thoughtful, and community focused approach to local government. Appointed to the Township Board in February 2026, Michelle has approached her role with a commitment to being prepared, asking questions, listening to residents, and carefully considering how each decision affects the people who call Grand Blanc Township home.

She believes serving as Trustee is about more than holding an elected position. It is about being accessible, doing the homework, listening to different perspectives, and earning the public’s trust through thoughtful and responsible decision making.

Local Government Experience

Michelle’s experience in public service began well before joining the Township Board. She spent several years working in local government, gaining firsthand experience with public meetings, government operations, election administration, public records, and the day to day work that keeps a community running.

That experience gave Michelle an understanding not only of how local government works, but also of the responsibility public officials have to make government transparent, accessible, and understandable to the residents they serve.

Her background has helped shape the way she approaches her role as Trustee today. She believes Board members should come prepared, ask questions, understand the information in front of them, and consider both the immediate and long term impact of the decisions they make.

Community Leadership

Michelle is also the Executive Director of Recovery Alliance Project, a Genesee County nonprofit focused on recovery support, community outreach, and connecting individuals and families with resources.

Her community involvement includes serving on the Genesee County Opioid Steering Committee, previously serving as Board Chair of Serenity House Communities, and working alongside nonprofits, public agencies, community organizations, and local leaders throughout Genesee County.

Whether she is sitting at the Township Board table, attending a community event, working with a local organization, or simply talking with a resident, Michelle believes strong communities are built through relationships, collaboration, and a willingness to show up and listen.

Michelle values transparency, responsible stewardship of public resources, public safety, thoughtful planning, and open communication between residents and their local government.

She believes people should feel comfortable contacting their elected officials, asking questions, expressing concerns, and participating in the decisions that affect their community. She also believes respectful disagreement is part of good government and that listening to different viewpoints leads to better decisions.

For Michelle, public service comes down to a simple approach:
